Our Approach *

At Grace House Day Nursery, our approach to early childhood education is rooted in the belief that every child is a unique learner, full of curiosity and potential. We take a holistic, play-based approach that nurtures the whole child—cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. Creating a supportive and stimulating environment encourages children to explore, ask questions, and engage with the world around them.

At Grace House Day Nursery we assess how your children are learning and developing information gained from notes, photographs, and videos of the children to document their progress and where this is leading them and plan their next steps to support their learning.

We work in partnership with parents as we believe parents know their children best and encourage parents to share information and contribute to their assessment about what your child enjoys at home and how as parents you are supporting their learning and development.

The Early Years Foundation Stage requires that we supply parents with a short written summary of their child’s development in the prime areas of learning when the child is aged between 24-36 months.

Your child’s key person is responsible for completing the progress check using the information from their ongoing observations and assessments which are carried out during everyday practice, this report considers the views and contributions of parents and other professionals that may be involved.

Our Nursery follows the EYFS stages. Through the EYFS framework, your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge, and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development. Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and emotional development, Literacy, Mathematics, understanding the word, and Expressive Art and design.

What would your child be learning at Nursery?

A Grace House Day Nursery, we center around the individual’s child, what they love, and what motivates them to learn. Our expected delivery of rich, engaging, meaningful activities, purposeful play, and focused high-quality teachable moments provides real opportunities for children’s natural curiosity to be enhanced, for individual learning to be challenged and extended, and secures solid foundations for lifelong learning.

Eating Healthy

General eating habits and patterns are formed in the first few years of life. At Grace House Day Nursery our staff plays a key role in introducing the children to a wide variety of foods and establishing a pattern of regular meals and healthy snacks.

We work alongside families to understand their child’s eating habits, preferences, dislikes, and any allergies or dietary needs.  The key person can share participation in healthy activities, new food the child has tried, and the setting’s menu with the parents.

Children eating together during mealtimes

When it is time to eat, we all sit together, just as most families do at home. For us, mealtimes are not just about nutritious food ( though it’s incredibly important) but also about modeling good eating habits and manners as well.

Mealtimes are an opportunity to share stories, strengthen bonds, and deepen relationships. To feed your child emotionally and physically. Children learn to express   ideas and develop language, vocabulary communication, and social skills as taking turns talking to others,

Contact & Communication

Every child in our nursery setting is assigned a Key person who focuses on their day and progress. The key person is an important role model for the children, and they are always ready to inform families with updates at the end of the day and through our parent App Baby Days. Our face-to-face conversations with parents are valuable and important.

The key person can discuss observations identified through play, the next steps in development, and any areas identified for extra support. These conversations are not just informative, but also interactive, with children often eagerly participating to share what they have been doing.

Security & Safety

The security and safety of the children in our care is paramount. We take all the necessary steps to ensure the children are always protected, cared for, and supervised. Please note: We are paediatric and First Aid certified and all staff have undergone DBS checks.
